Somebody loves You!

A wonderful story to hear.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
I will be looking for this book for BASE.
We love our BASE family.

Easy Heart Origami Craft

This would make a great Mother's Day
card for your mother!

We will have our Busy Friday this week from 4:30-5:00.
Ms Ainsley and Mr. Alex will be hosting
Catchphrase.  Which is similar to Password.
One of our group games we played in our before care.

Let Ms Robin know by Thursday afternoon if
you and your child is interested in joining us.
She will send out invites Friday morning.

Our teens are graduating this month from Legend High School.
They have worked so hard to get to this point.  We are so proud
of them and all that they accomplished.
Their future looks bright with promise.
We wish them all the best!

We love you and thank you for
being part of our BASE family.

Howdy, Howdy Everyone!

Does it now feel like spring and warm weather
is finally here to stay?

We had so much fun doing cardio with Mr Villi that we are going to try to do them once a week.  Exercise Wednesday with Mr. Villi.  From 3:30-4:00.  Let Ms Robin know if you are interested in joining us to get our blood pumping.  We need to know by Tuesday afternoon.  So email invites are sent.  This is open for both parents and children.  We will start it next week.

This week's Busy Friday will be the Zoey/Dylan Scavenger Hunt.  It will be hosted by Ms Robin.  Please email Ms Robin if you are interested in joining us.  It will be from 4:30-5:00.  She will need you to email her by Thursday afternoon so she can send invites Friday morning.  This scavenger hunt will be combined with show and tell of what you find during the hunt.
It will be fun.  Come join us!
Thank you Zoey and Dylan for the ideas.

Watch this fun story.  It was read by Oprah Winfrey.
Enjoy!

Remember when we were at the Denver Zoo and we got the penguins to jump into the water?
We found this penguin cam.
Too bad we can't chant 1, 2, 3, JUMP!  To get them into the water.

A Big Thank you to Mr Alex for making our special Home BASE picture for our blog.  You did a wonderful job.

Also a big Thank you to Ms Rachel for putting it in this format for us.  Great job.

We hope to have you join us this Friday.
Enjoy the nice weather.

How are you doing?

It has been over a month since
BASE has been closed.
For us not seeing you every day
has left a big hole in our lives.
So how you doing and
how do you fill that missing hole?
Here are some suggestions that
may help until we meet again.

  • Make plans and then do it.  Is there something you always wanted to do but never had time?  Read that book you always wanted to read.  You can download an app to check out eBooks for your I-pad.  It is so easy that even Ms Robin can do it.
  • Have you thought about doing something special for other people?  Random acts of kindness for your family?  Making something special for a friend or neighbor?  You can do acts of kindness even when you are staying home to keep everyone safe.
  • Have you ever written a letter and mailed it to someone?  That would be a very nice surprise for someone.  Doing something for someone else does make you feel better and keeps you occupied in a good way.
  • Take your dog for a walk around the block.
  • Go through your toys and organize them.  Throw away broken ones and box up toys you haven't played with in a long time to give to charity.
  • Learn to bake cookies.
  • Put your thoughts in a journal.  Anne Frank during WWII hid up in an attic for 2 years from the Nazi and wrote down her thoughts.  Her thoughts became a gripping book that should be read by everyone.  It is called the Diary of Anne Frank.
Kindness matters.  It may not save the world
but it will touch the life of one person.
Be the kind person.

We have so many crafty people at BASE.
Your crafts turn out so good.  Why not make a fun craft?
Here are instructions to make the unicorn bobble head craft we have done at BASE:

We have planned a Busy Friday for this week.  It will be doing some cardio with Villi.
Please join us.  Remember to send an email by Thursday evening, letting us know you want to join us and parents need to give permission for their child to do this.  It is from 4:30-5:00.  Ms Robin will send out invites Friday morning around 10:00.  Please make sure you accept the invite.
On Friday, you will need space to move around freely.
We suggest you put your computer on a table against the wall facing you while standing in the middle of the room.
We do not recommend doing this in the kitchen
or small room with lots of furniture.

Take care and we hope to see you on Friday.

A Snowy Welcome from BASE

Each one of you are in our hearts.  We love and miss everyone of you.

One part of not being at Iron Horse is missing the books/stories.  Our teachers and staff are such good readers.  They are very good at reading to their classes.  Ms Ainsley uses this link to hear stories read by actors.  It is very good.  We hope you will get on it and enjoy some books read to you.  Ms Robin already heard 2 stories this morning and Ms Ainsley's little brother listens to them.

Storyline Online

We will have a Busy Friday this week.  It will be hosted by Mr. Alex.  He will be doing some "Eye Spy"!  Come join us on google groups this Friday from 4:30-5:00.  Send Ms Robin an email if you want to join us.  Don't forget to let us know which email you will use and permission for
any BASE child to join in the fun.  We need you to let Ms Robin know by Thursday evening.
She will send out invites after 10:00 am on Friday.  We would love to have you join us .

See you on Friday

Greetings From BASE!

How are you doing today?

We came across this moving fish craft.  How about this craft as one of our crafts projects when we get back to BASE?  Check it out, make it and then let us know if this a good one for us.

We found another easy fun craft in celebration of spring:
Let us know if this is another one we should
make when we get back to Iron Horse.

Friday will be another Busy Friday.
It will be from 4:30-5:00.
Ms Ainsley will host a Show & Tell in google groups.  If you want to participate you will need to send an email to Ms Robin by early Friday morning.  She will be sending out the invites to join at 10:00 am.  Have what you want to show us ready by 4:30.
Please only one item and only share for
a couple of minutes so everyone has a chance to share.

Next week's Busy Friday will be an "I Spy" activity.  It will be hosted by Mr Alex.  We can't wait to share this with you.
Spending time with you makes our day.
You make us happy to have you in our BASE family.

The staff and I hope you are enjoying the nice weather here in Colorado.  Sitting on the front porch and waving to neighbors is nice.  Sitting on the porch without a jacket and neighbors
waving and saying hi is even better.  We are thankful for each day we have.
We are looking forward to the future of being able to share our days with you at BASE.

A bit of fun for you today:

We will be having our Busy Friday this week.  It will be a "Show & Tell" activity with the teens!  Ms Ainsley will be hosting this activity.  Please join us at 4:30.  Send Ms Robin an email letting us know you want to join in the fun.  Please make sure we have the email you will use and parental permission for children to be with us.  We had so much fun with our scavenger hunt last week.   We are excited to see some "showing" from you on Friday.  Just be prepared to show one thing and not for too long.  We need time for everyone to share within our time frame of 4:30-5:00.  We will need your emails by Thursday afternoon so we can send you an invite Friday morning.

Check out our blog on Friday for fun activities and BASE news.
Even though we can only be together with the internet,
it brightens our day and our hearts
are filled with love for each of you.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday.

Howdy from Iron Horse BASE.

How are you doing?
We have missed you very much.  Each of you are an important part of our lives.  Hopefully with this blog we can reconnect until we see each other at Iron Horse.  It is our intention to have this blog for parents, children and BASE staff.  We would love to have you participate.  Children will need permission from their parents.  We have planned for this Friday is a scavenger hunt.  We are calling these activities our Busy Friday.  It will be held on google groups.  In order for people to participate we need an email send to Ms Robin (rdrobert1@dcsdk12.org) that you plan on joining us for Busy Fridays.  Parents will need to add a written permission in the email that their child may do this.  Make sure we have the correct email address for your child and/or for yourself.  On google groups you will get a list of items to find around your house.  The object of the game is to find all the tiems before the staff.  If the children find them first then there will be a donut hole party when we get back to school.  If the staff finds it first, I owe them a Starbucks.  So lets see who will either get donut holes or Starbucks.  WAIT!  As an added bonus if a parent finds all the items before BASE staff then there will be coffee and donut holes for them and a donut hole for the children.
Who will be the first to find all the items?
Ms Rachel has put together the list and will be running the scavenger hunt on Friday.

Have you ever wondered about the BASE staff?

Ms. Rachel loves running and watching movies with her dog Kona, a rescue from Mexico. Her nicknames include Bubba, Bug, Bub, Bean, Bear, and Bologna. Her favorite food is anything that falls on the floor except for carrots. Social distancing is her new favorite activity because it means more time with Mama

Ms Ainsley:
Hey kiddos! I don't have a pet (sadly) so here's a picture of my brother ;) I miss you guys soooo much!! I hope you're having fun doing school at home! I'm doing school at home too, and I miss seeing my classmates and teachers and especially YOU guys but it is pretty nice to sleep in ;) When I'm not doing school work, I like to go for a walk, play tennis with my sister, practice my hand-lettering (fancy handwriting), do embroidery, play the piano, play card games with my family (have you guys played Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza?! It is SO much fun!!), and call my friends! I hope you guys are finding lots of things to do too! I hope you have an AMAZING day and I can't wait to see all of your faces again!!

Mr. Alex:

“Hey Chicken Nuggets! This is Daisy the French Bulldog who lives with me! She is very clingy and demands constant love and attention so we’ve been passing the time with lots of cuddles, fetching, and walks around the neighborhood. She’s very excited that I’m home so much now but I miss seeing all of your bright happy faces everyday! I can’t wait until we can hang out again doing crafts and gym games! I miss you all so much!”

Mr. Villi and his dog.
Hi BASE!, hope all is well in this interesting times of our lives. I have been keeping busy by working out and watching wrestling as well as school so I can graduate in May I hope this finds you well and have a Wonderful day.

Ms Robin:

This is my dog Roo.  She is a rescue from the Buddy Center.  When I adopted her she was covered in bites.  She was very scared of people especially men and you could see every bone in her body.  I like to take Roo with me to look for Bigfoot and she loves to go camping.  I have miss all of you so much!  I can’t wait to get back and do puzzles and play trash with you.

Are you bored?
Do you want to make one of our favorite crafts?  Make it and then take a picture of it.  Then send it to Ms Robin (rdroberts1@dcsdk12.org) with parental permission and we will put it in our blog.
Lets see how many different types can be made.  Remember the unicorn kitties?  Let's see what you can make.  Remember to color both sides and to use tape to put together.

To print out: Copy and paste it on Word on your computer.  That was how I was able to print it out.
I tried to just paste it as a word document to this blog but could not.  I will ask a tech savvy person for help next time.

Remember to check our blog on Friday.  Hopefully we will have some kitties to show.  We need your email by noon on Friday so we can invite you to our google group to do our scavenger hunt.  Please remember: "Children we need
parental permission for you to participate."

Thank you for visiting our blog.
